Hello backfire,
I asked lepatron - but got no reply.

Hello Robin - and all,

JFYI:
Finally I found NPR Europe www.npr-europe.com . I asked there and got the name of a local store (Regnemer here near by Graz (A)).

I ordered two sets (= 2 cylinder) Ø77mm: 1.5x2.0x3.0 for my 9.5 pistons. Price was 38.40€ (incl VAT and discount?) which is less than all 2CV specialtists offer.

Hello,

I have a set of GS1220 pistons here (Ø77 too) and its piston rings would suit at some Visa pistons. I also found a website http://www.salta-m.lv/faili/SM/a7.pdf (seems to catalogue of NPR too, my new rings have part number 2699-1122-00) which says that they're the compatible.

I asked the company which has the license of Nikasil-products, a technician told me what is to consider in the use of Nikasil cylinders. I wrote down the details but can't find the paper on my desk.
He told me which part is allowed to be chromed, which is not allowed.
I remember correctly(!) that he said Nikasil cylinders require convex (His speech "ballig" (German)) piston rings - otherwise the Nikasil layer would be shaped soon! That was the key that I orders new rings.

--> I would not recomend Xsara Diesel rings.

The GS pistons are labeld with just 8.4 but the hole on top is very small - smaller than on 9.5 pistons! It looks that GS1220 chamber is more old fashined than Visa.
I'd expect higher compression with GS1220 pistons in Visa engine without machining cylinders - maybe the edge of the GS piston have to be modified.
BUT the piston pin diameter is different: 22mm instead of 20mm in Visa engine. :(
I don't know if it possible to get adapter 20-->22mm - if yes I had to find out if the steel cylinder designed GS pistion is able to run in a Aluminium cylinder. Compare the trounbles of Visa pistons in bored 2CV/Dyane steel cylinders.

I thought the top of GS pistons is turned 90 degrees in respect to visa pistons. are you sure you can fit them to Visa, even with the adapter? wouldn't the top smash the valves?

I know Rusty, I know. I was referring to the pistons. Since the pistons for the visa are very heavy, around 460 grams each including piston.
