Car is custom when its modified. It can be full custom or mild custom.
Example: Lowered car whit punch of nice detailings is mild custom.
Lowered car whit nothing else is modified original or something like
that. (especially in 2cv case where lowering is work for 30 minutes)

I have other Azu from year 1960 which has 602 engine, lots of small
mods, non original color, roofrack etc. but still I dont make topic out of it
here cos its not custom car. Its still regular 2cv for me. For small mods I
could think that it would be mild custom but its more travelling vehicle for
me. I havent been making those mods on it in "customizing idea".

I in many cases its easy to say what is custom and what is not.
In our forum I have been let to stay projects what are not so custom but
if there have been nice fabricating and work. But if your car is regular 2cv
and you paint it full of flowers, glue eyebrows on lamps it sure is some
sort of custom but it fits better on regular 2cv forums where they like that
kind a "2cv style" customizations.

I agree that a lot of cars posted here are not custom at all. For me, customizing is not putting old 2CV parts on your newer 2CV or lowering it and putting a K&N filter and electronic ignition on. Or buying chrome parts or other shiny bits and screwing or sticking that on. That may be PART of the customizing process, but more is needed!

It's about CUTTING UP your car or parts of your car and modifying it/them. So, in a way, it is about disrespect for the original and making it something all your own. The saying goes: "fuck the factory: customize".

There are some really good customizers here, and I think this forum is for those who want to join in cutting up their cars. A lot of support and good ideas can be found here but it IS getting polluted by a lot of idle talk.

It is up to the moderators, who have certain ideas what this forum is about to act on this. Maybe it is time to start screening those who want to join? Maybe it is time to "weed the garden" and look at what a member can contribute to the 2CV custom scene before this turns into a "normal" citroen forum? (of which there are enough!)

Which category, which is meant to be discussed on this forum, do you belong in, that justifies your presence here ??? Laughing

there is so much cheap, cheaply made, cheaply thought pieces of junk in the 2cv "custom" scene, that I think it is only reasonable to totally REFUSE their presence on this board.

This isn't excluding people, it's excluding shit cars. the owners of said shit cars, are very welcome to start a new project, and actually DO something interesting/well thought.

When people realise that modifying cars is like telling a story, not just bolting shit on them and changing the wheels... well... the 2cv world will be a better place.

But thats dreaming.

And yes, I would rather have a board with just 20 or 25 guys with really GOOD cars, and plague 2cv Meetings together, spreading the gospel Laughing

My goal is to make some sort of resto-cal 2cv. But it's not cut-open or something, so will it be a custrom in your eyes? In my eyes it is, but that's the question I get when I see some new members will be refered to the forum rules.

So the reason for this discussion is that you refer to the forum rules for new members and I think some of them really want to build a custom (in the name of hoodrides, etc) and than get referd to the forum rules that there not.
Where is the line between a custom and a regular? Rolling Eyes

No offence to this forum-board, because besides the normal 2cv forums I like to read about the stuff here. Laughing

To my mind, you have built a nice looking 2cv. But it is a ''bolt-on'' 2cv. it looks like another 2cv with 2cv accessories on it. So it's nice, but ask on a 2cv meeting... I don't think even the worse "customisers" will say that your car is a "Custom"

These last 2 are in mine opinion not customs in the way they're rebuild, but in the beetle-scene the call it customs.

Because the 2cv-scene is not so big. These 2 are in 1 scene.

A regular car wich is lowered is no custom. That I agree

This is my first post here, but I've been monitoring this forum for some time - gathering info for the inspiration on what to do or not to do on my ovn 2cv Very Happy

This argument is only normal for growing forum, and this is my opinion:

Few guys have made this forum and are trying to create a new scene in 2cv world - thumbs up guys! They have a vision, and, from all I can see, are working hard to make it work - it is not an easy job, I should think!

My vision of 2cv world is colorfull and filled with individuals and diferent styles, and that is what I personally love about - you can do, and be whatever you like without judgement. It is only fare to leave the guys who are trying to make a new scene to make it, and moderate it here in the virtual world.

This is a custom forum, and on custom forum you should be able to se custom cars and custom projects. My car is not custom, it's original - I don't even consider to put photos here.

I don't no if this is ok to write considering my inactivity... I hope it is, becose I needed to say this.

Some ideas that I have seen here are quite radical so I need some time to contemplate - like channeling... But one day maybe I will make low, mean machine from my 2cv - for now, I would get murdered by my girlfriend if I was to try to channel or "destroy" my charleston Laughing

Problem is that I don't have a garage, no knowledge on fabrication, only ideas in my head.
