Good morning, everyone, I'm David, I have 33 years and I have a 2cv6 of 1980.
I live in Poitiers and my first car was a 2cv4 in 1990.
My project is making a hoodride 2cv as etienne.i'm fan !!!
First step i have to Repaint my car, i've started the paint since one month With several types of rust paint and it's begins to look great.the pics at my fifth post .

and pic 3 , view from my twin, with a gallery of roof find in part market at Chatellerault for 20€.
i make rust with 3 kind of paint : first a rust bomb paint ( peinture Julien, oxyde rouille foncé ), second a "base" brown used normally to make fake rust ( V33, "base de préparation brune ) and to finish a rust "patine" ( V33, patine de finition rouille ).
It's the begening so next pics, the next time

I also used this Julien can, but also some more stuff.
You should roll some more grey paint over the rust paint when it looks too much like can painting.
Few weeks ago, I've seen a new painting making real rust over the paint in a shop. Can't remember where it was... Rolling Eyes

Real Rust would be better... but it makes your car more fragile...

either way, it's a lot of work to get a really nice effect (probably as hard as doing a real nice shiny paint job)

For real rust, have a look at 2cv that are weathered and old/rusty... and see where the paint wears out...

you can then wet sand your car to get the same gradual worn look...

You have the right colours, there.

For a better look, take some of the original car colour, thin it down (1:1), spray a light coat over the "rust". Then, lightly sand away the colour (with fine waterproof paper or scotchbrite pad) until the rust appears.

It will look like the rust comes from under the paint (like in reality) and you will have less gloss on the brown, which makes it look more natural.
