I decide finally to introduce you my 2cv.
It is one 2cv4 of 1977, bought 2 months ago now. I just restored some pieces, and disassembled and took back up the motor, who feels a pain, but it will soon leave again I trust ^^.

This is:

and i would like to make it this :

Start sanding the paint off, then.

The 2cv is not a cheap Beetle.

It's a car of it's own kind and own design. You should think your project with that idea in mind.

It's not easy to "fake" patina... it often looks plain bad. for such a project you need a barn find 2cv to do things properly.

Thought of the day : Fake is Gay

Wink

Good luck

I have just searched a simple means to explain the final paces of project, since I speak badly English. Now, fake gay, ok, but they always draw inspiration from something, so we're all gay?

Fake is Gay = le faux, c'est gay

Fake patina is gay

Fake Exhausts are gay

Fake disc brakes are gay

Fake carbon fibre is gay

Etc...

I'd like a car that is like I imagine it to be, that represents my ideals, and, that I like. That's what's important.

I won't do fake paint, and I won't put hubcaps, in order to have a "non gay" car.

I guess that's what everyone does :

Build a car "that they like" and more or less ignore advice from others...

Have fun !

You could also make it look like a boat or a shiny american fire truck! (or a cucumber, a box of chocolats, a bicycle ...) Wink

Welcome and good luck with the transformation! Wink

Welcome here Felox!

My 2cv has fake patina, and so what?
Only result is important.
And I don't get these gay jokes things. Rolling Eyes
Should we have to start to be stupid racist homophobe people cause we like cars?

Anyway, this beetle is a fake patina one (but real rust) and it looks cool.
I've seen some other VW painted like dark rust and it was really well done, I'll post here for you some examples if I can find them back.

Don't listen to Joseph, I think he wish people keep making 80's custom... Laughing

I think it went wrong here:

For my opinnion, If you really want VW instead of 2cv Dont start to
mess whit 2cv, its so much more difficult to make low and cool.
Make your 2cv running, sell it and buy that Beetle you want.
You can bring your 2cv here in Finland, here Beetles are way more
cheaper than 2cv (and still I dont wanna buy one)
