Yes you can, but alloy rims are very expensive to produce in small amount. The press or the mold are very expensive to produce.

Other option is to mill rims, but that's also very expensive.

Someone in NL did it once, but I found them ugly and they cost more then 1000 Euro for 4 rims. A set op spacers is cheaper, but personally I find rims should be with 3 bold fitting. And with 3 bolds fitting everybody knows they are special Wink

In Numansdorp NL, there is a rim company that could help you with rims that come without drilled holes, then you can have the holes drilled to 2cv specs.

No, I think Björn is not speaking here about so small amounth of wheels.
If there would be company (example EMPI) who would like to sell some
wheels in 2cv scene too, they could order design for 2cv custom rims from
someone or do it by their self and made example 200 pieces set of them.
If they would sell they could start to produce more. But there is big risk
as long 2cv people thinks that Lada Niva wheels looks good under 2cv. Wink

-Olli

Ps. I once made design of Radar style rims for 2cv (3 bolts).

If you have rims whitout holes or holes welded off I think any good
metal machining company can drill 3 bolt pattern on them.

And I like much more to see a car that is used and driven hard AND modified than some shiny trailer queen. I don't really miss 2CV "show cars" at car shows.

I think it is way cooler to see a 2CV in the parking lot that has been driven 250kms in the winter to see the car show.

Same with hotrod shows. You see cars arriving that are really low, have no front brakes, no bonnet, no fenders but they are rarely driven more than 50kms.

Every time I have been to a car show, especially with american cars, I pass these big dinosaurs that look cool but are crawling at 80kms between trucks on the highway. I go past at 130 with my little aircooled twin. Thats what cars are all about for me. Not stationary sculptures but driving tools. And if they look good doing their job, thats nice but I really don't see the point in building a car that you can't drive to a car show because it is too low, uncomfortable, fragile, clean or whatever.

I think none of these 2cv customs I show are trailer gueens. Some rough
2cv customs I have seen pictured on trailers. Car can be really well used,
(not maybe in everyday) and still be show guality. I dont see anything
cool (exept temperature) in winter driving, but we have guite different
winter here in Finland. We have many hotrods in Finland whitout fenders
and bonnet and still used a lot. When I'm talking about show quality cars
here I dont mean show stoppers which are bought on show by trailers.
Like my Ural, I used to drive it guite a lot. Its not scared of rain or sand
roads but still after washing and waxing its Show guality bike.

Its something new and cool built and I can imagine it be exhibited in
some show but its not really well made or even finished so its a bit out
of what I was searching.

you can study some years in school or get to know basics by some books

If you made how ever good work and get your car on shows and you

out of style B) bad design.

ps. I think those wheels (rims and tyres) in that blue 2cv are best in any
2cv ever.

Okay, thanks, that makes sence. I actually should have thought about something like that myself Rolling Eyes Embarassed Neutral .

Anyhow, I got a question about the proporties. It is more based on my feeling not on theoritical knowledge about design .
Isn't a 2cv sort of an extraordinary vehicle which is somehow out of proporties (if one could say that) or design wise so different from any other car that it more or less requires a hole new custom "standaard"? Or in other words doesn't a good snail/custom 2cv's probably need more than the route you describe.

Ciao, Bart

Hmm

Thanks Olli for launching this topic. I think some interesting input can (and has already) come through.

Bart : My rod is built to show and to go. it's low, fenderless, hoodless, and tops a max speed of maybe only 130km/h, but I drove/will drive it to shows. but I know what you mean about "useless" show cars...

Olli : I hope to build my A to "show car" standards, and then drive it. I lack time, unfortunately. The rest I have or can work to get. I probably won't build thousands of bikes and cars, cause I'm not that good at it, to be honest, but I'd like to get this Mk1 2cv looking perfect (I would have loved to have a pre 53, though...

(by the way, the "batmobile" rims are one their way Wink)
