Hey, finally I am home!

Lots of other people not afraid to cut up their "classic" cars.

I will introduce my self, I am Bart of 1974, I live in Arnhem, The Netherlands and I am a Kustom Painter and graphic artist.

I will post some pictures of my current car here. It is the 16th car I have owned. It will probably never be finished but it will take on the form of the Tiki Wagon for this summer.

It was an Acadiane when I found it for 250 Euros. The first owner had sold because of too much welding work on the rotten body.

I bought it, fixed the floors, sills and technical issues and it was on the road. Soon, I was making plans for a conversion to a Woodyane.

After a while spent collecting parts and materials, the build process starts with cutting up the car.

Then the new wooden construction takes shape. To make the car a cabriolet, the top of the acadiane cabin was cut just above the doorframe and the roofrails of a Dyane were welded in.

The car was just finished before the World 2CV meeting in Schotland 2005. It has a wooden floor and frame in the back, a standard 2cv roof laid flat on the top (including rear window), Dyane rear fenders and bootlid, wooden bumper in the rear and Dyane rear lights.

After that, a flamejob was painted on the front, it was lowered, a stainless steel 60mm sidepipe was added and some other minor modifications were made.

Right now I am in the process of repainting the car. A lot of work including fixing up/replacing bodypanels. A glimpse of the new colour here, it is darkgrey with a matt finish:

A list of things that were done already:
-Fitting new floors
-Fitting new (used) rear fenders and rear bootlid
-Fitting new kingpins in front suspension
-New suspension arm bearings front and rear
-New clutch
-reworked AM2 engine with all new seals etc.
-electronic ignition
-New wheels painted black
-Tires painted with special whitewall paint
-lengthened rear shock absorbers to lower the car even more in the back
-making new rear lights from bamboo, DS rear indicator lights and some old round lights I found
-hanging license plate on chains so it hangs horizontal above 80 kms
-flamethrower in exhaust
-painting Kustombart logo on the back in gold flakes with white outline
-repainting dashboard and doorpanels
-waterproofing the car
-painting the doors on the outside

Still to be done before Sweden:
-painting front fenders, bonnet and cabin matt grey
-new front brakes (discs and pads)
-lowering ten more turns front and back
-fitting Campinggaz-powered flamethrower
-painting flames on the car
-fitting electric radio-antenna
-changing the roofline at the back
-making a new bamboo grille
-fitting new front indicator lights somewhere.
-refitting interior, windows, etc after painting
-some more waterproofing

I don't know yet what kind of flames to paint on the front and doors. Any ideas are welcome!

You can see more pictures of this car and some of my older projects on my website (English and Dutch).

Also, my Special Paint projects are shown there:

Hey! Welcome here!

Cool ride you have!
I think the new combination of coulour will be better than this red.

About woody 2CV, I guess you know Vincent Servais and his woody 2CV?

I looked your website, I specially like the rusty 2CV. What a cool idea it was... Do you have more pics of that car?

Hey Etienne,

I saw your car before, like it!
The rusty car was burned out before I bought it. Replaced windows, seats, tires, wiring and engine/gearbox and then ran it for 1 summer.

In the end, the metal was really weak. The floor came apart like wet paper and the last time I drove it, I hit a bump and my toolbox fell through the bootfloor on the street. That's when it was time to sell it again.

But all this was in 2001, we actually built it for the 2CV word meeting in Austria. All the pictures I have are on my website. If you click on the small pictures, sometimes you get more pictures. For example, click on the first, third, fourth and fifth picture and you will see more pics.

@woody:
It will be matt grey, like the rear fenders and bootlid.
Black wheels and gold flames on the front and sides.
@Etienne: don't worry. I'll be there and so will the car.

Today: adding matt grey color, then doing a dance to celebrate.

Tomorrow reassembly of the doors and front fenders, then one more coat to get an even colour.

I now have a problem because the paint store cannot give me more paint to make the super matt finish. I am trying to find a solution but so little time!!!

Well, I am looking for a powder to add to the 2K DG colour to make the paint get a texture like 1000 grade wet sandpaper. Also, it is the most matt you can get. PPG makes it. But they're not open in the weekend. They can't even appreciate that I have to be in Sweden in two weeks!

So I'll try to call some people monday.
