I like the "I do not agree" (with the actual opinion of the guy who designed it)

Laughing Laughing Laughing

It's a terrific car...

Like a C1 corvette except much more "space race design" in the rear end... it's a real 60s piece of weirdo-fuck-the-norm design... why do you think Citroen sold more Breaks than Berlines ? Cause their customers where boring old conformist shytes Laughing Laughing Laughing (well, that's the theory I like anyway Laughing )

Call me stupid, but I don't understand. Wink So ugly it's beautiful is like searching for an argument to tell society you like it. If you fully appreciate the design, you don't call it ugly ... even if the whole world says it's ugly, you can say it's beautiful.

Anyway, nice car you found there Russ! Those pointy shapes on top of the hood are great for pinstriping.

Mouarf... Maybe I should have say "excellent" or "cool" instead of "beautiful"... Rolling Eyes

And even if the whole world says it's ugly, I can also think it's ugly! Laughing

The color scheme is really good as a base for a raw looking car. Add some dark red or blue striping and details, ooooooooooolala.

Thats what I was thinking. Know anybody that does pinstriping?

(the break is even better, I think)

Its hard for me to decide, I wanted a Berline before i bought my Break, and I have grown to like the break a lot now, I guess I just havnt seen a berline done to the same styles I like.

Did you know however the AMI 6 was considered, by Bertoni himself, to be his masterpiece Wink

Which is strange I think, because his other, mich wider known masterpiece was the DS, a car frequently voted 'best looking car ever'. Even with the Ami6s interesting and outlandish styling, I would never have said it was a better looking car than the DS, but then again, he came up with both of them, so who am I to argue...

I do pinstriping but my brush doesn't reach to Great Britain.
Maybe Panthershaun knows pinstripers in your country. He is into the custom scene and writes for Britchopper mag.

If you are willing to wait for the summer, I could do it, I will visit the Hotrod Hayride then.

Years ago, I was working for a 2CV specialist when a white ami6 break club arrived from France. It was solid and complete, only minor rust and a slightly mouldy interior. It sat there for a year, as nobody would buy it. I sat in it many a time and drew lots of plans for that car. However, they wanted 1.500 euro for it, which I didn't have. It was sold for 800 in the end. It still brings tears to my eyes. Crying or Very sad

Maybe your brush doesnt reach GB, but my car can come to you!

The one thing I think made my 6 break look better was lowering it, Its not that low at all, but whe it was up high it looked ridiculous and the body looked out of proportion, now its a bit lower, the shape seems to make much more sense.

At a show, expect to pay around 150 euro for bonnet and boot (2 times 30x40cm).

Prices depend on the name of the guy who does it. Needless to say there are different styles and you should check out the guy's work before he f***s up your car.

If the pinstripe work is bad it can easily be removed within 1 or 2 hours with terps or thinner...

A break is OK lowered, but a Berline NEEDS to be chopped if you want to have something decent looking when you slam it.

I know what you mean, and yeah, thay are a bit different to what most people would fit, but with what I want to do to it, I think they will work.

If not, Ill just flog them on again, but I think it'll look hardcore.

I only answered half your question, no, I dont want to build a 'Hi tech' Ami6, quite the opposite really, I would like the thing to be as 'bare bones' and basic as possible, the shell and body panels are just the right colour, and have a lovely patina for a ratlook style car, although just having a car which looks rough but is low is common, every beetle in the world is rusty and slammed, so I'd like to use influences from other styles which i hope will still suit. The signwriting done in a 50s/60s drag car style, and then faded and ages to match the cars paintwork, maybe a set of 1" banded rims on the front if I can get a set made up (im dying to have a go, but Id like to see somebody make a set first before I ruin a decent set of rims!). The exhaust exiting through the front wing(s?) and pinstriping to match the signwriting colours on the bonnet and around the swages on the doors and the bootlid. I dont want an interior, aside from a steering wheel, a tell-tale tacho, those seats and a half cage at the back. I've got a set of cut and turned arms which i need to pay for and collect (Cheers Geoff) for the front, and I will need to modify the rear arms possibly giving it a bit of negative camber so the wheels fit under the arches. (it has a late 2cv rear axle, and is too wide).

Id like to throw the front inner wings away as they just get in the way of everything, and make a framework from 16mm round bar to support the front panel and wings, aswell as stuff like the coil, light adjusters and wiring loom. The bonnet ideally will be front hinged, with the rear edge secured with dzus fasteners, or a modified standard bonnet catch.

For the engine, spec depends on my wallet at the time, but I think a polished and un-cowled late 602, with a few shiney bits, so it looks mint, could be the way forward. It'll be on disc brakes.

Thats what I'd like to do anyways, I still have to finish the Break off and sell my Merc, and its just a project to stop me being bored through times of poverty when I move out with the missus later this year. No sort of time limet just something to keep me busy, and as a bonus, really annoy the type of people who think old citroens should be restored as standard, and only driven slowly.

Its a shitty drawing, I know, but I hope you get the idea!

This is a really good example of what I want to build.
