I saw three 2CV derivatives on the road today, most definitely headed for the meeting. About 50 km south of Riga, Latvia at about 5 - 5:30 PM; one yellow/red Acadiane (Dutch plates), one multi-colored 2CV6 and one red Mehari headed towards Riga. It felt so fun that I even tried to call Olli just to tell him that I saw these three. :) |

My starter broke today. I don't know exactly what's wrong, possibly the solenoid...The solenoid does switch 12V to the starter, but apparently has no motion. I did try to use the starter without the solenoid, but again, it did not spin.
I'll try to find out the problem ASAP. I do NOT want to miss going to Sweden with my 2CV because of a broken starter. |

Try putting the car in gear and pushing it. If the solenoid is stuck, this sometimes helps. Also, try to hit the solenoid with a heavy metal object to get it loose.
But if you tried to switch it directly to 12v then it is dead and needs replacing or replace collectors or brushes (don't know what to call them in english). _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

I actually did and already opened up the solenoid as well...No help yet!

Yeah!
Got a new solenoid and cleaned up the brushes. One of the brushes was stuck, which I suspect caused the problem in the first place. Still, I'll leave the new solenoid installed and hang on to the old one as a spare and also install new brushes once I get them. At least this way my starter will be overhauled once and for all. :) |

Thanks for a great meeting! Even though my visit was short (sat-sun), it was fun to meet new people. Etienne, Bart, I hope you got the Tiki-Wagon shoot done well! |
