Hey Robin,
Did you check that topic : http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=6 ?
Gaetan show how he made his 4 cyl 2cv. He just put the 2cv body on the Ami Super frame with some adaptations of course.
By the way, JoZeF has a complete ami super frame + 1300cc + 5 speed gearbox for sell
About make it legal in Belgium I don't know. I can just say than in France it's totally forbidden but there is many 4 cyl 2CV...

wel I have read it. And it is very interesting. ANd Indeed I can made a 2cv with the 4cilinder without it is legal but I regret the fact that is a lot of mony to drive somthing that the police just can pick off the road. Maybe If I had enaugh money
But I'm also looking for a house sow. I now It is possibel to do it on oldtimer terms but the chassis I wont to buy those not have papers.
And then the most difficul part I think confins my wife
I also have an unfinsed beetle 1303 thats stand in the way and my bik but that wans drive. We whill see

This rule goes for the law in Belgium:
You can make a perfectly legal 4 cylindered 2cv. You just have to find some A series pre '68 paperwork. (Ami 6, AZU, 2cv ... doesn't matter) These cars dont have a constructors certificat (gelijkvormigheidsattest). Pre '68 cars can have their body and engine modified, top chop and V6 engine wouldn't be a problem for example. No one can proof that your car has been modified because it doesn't have a certificat yet, that's the beauty.
And I guess you don't even have to use a Super chassis, just take an ordinary chassis and modify that. Modify the front part to have the engine fitted and make it stronger. I've already seen some 2cv's with the engine moved a bit to the back so it fits under the hood.
Greets,
Sam |

I think It will be safer to take a amisuper chassis. Because of the strenght. It is possibel to set the engine a bit back but than it does not stand horizontal I think and I geus that is not very good for the oil.
Papers of a pre 68 is not a problem I think. But I thaught it was pre 63 not ?

If ever you're interested I have a Super Chassis that has been completely restored... I guess you're a bit far, but if you're interested don't hesitate

Well!!l that belgium law sounds even wilder as everything I have heard and seen about registration in the UK... but sounds great when you'd like to modify!!

What do you mean? The engine will still lay horizontal ... it's just moved a bit backwards. '68 is correct, maybe it's '63 on another planet. |

Robin is right.
If you put the engine back for 7 or 14 cm (depends of the gearbox belhousing); the engine will be on the front axle. And it means, the back will be higher than the front. Depends how you feel it, I know some guys using this technic.
Example (here gsa1300 + turbo + 5 speed gearbox):
