Has anyone got a close up picture of how the door hinges look on the early 2 CV's with suicide doors, I really want to change the doors on my project to suicide and a picture of an original would be a great help.

Cheers
Shaun

No photo, but I can tell.
They are the same as actual rear door hinges.
I mean that on pre65 snail front hinges are the same profil as on post65 rear hinges, and pre65 rear hinges are symetric with front hinges.
So you can't put post 65 rear doors on a pre65 snail.

Confused Am I clear?

well, I suspect there may be a clearance problem, but that's the idea.
Why wouldn't you use an older B-pillar and older doors instead?

cause it's probably easier to modify modern stuff than to find old B pillar and doors.

I've heard of it being done... rear door hinges on the back of front doors...

It does work apparently

Bye

Shaun. Idea If you are only having two doors on your 2cv truck, why not cut the door pillars out on both sides and swap them left to right so that the body half of the hinge is facing the front. Then cut the other bit of the rear doors and weld to your front doors etc. Thats what i;m going to do at some time in the near future with SCAR.
Idea Just another thought regarding your rear truck body. Have you considered using a small pressed steel trailer body for the buck. If you pick one up on e'bay they are normally 3' x 3' and have a drop tailboard as well. Some have got some interesting shape pressings on the panels too, for that authentic 50'hot rod look.
JUST A THOUGHT, Tony. Cool

How can you mistake a Ford Pop for a 2cv... ? Laughing

Interesting idea though on a 2 door car.

Early 2cv suicide hinges ARENT the same as late 2cv rear door hinges, they work the other way round, see the picture thats been posted, the hinge on late rear doors is inside the body part whereas on early suicide doors its on the outside of the body part of the hinbge. as Tony said the easiest way is to use the rear hinges welded to your front doors and swap the B pillar over.
