hello my name is Camille and i live in Britanny in the west of France i'm 18 and I'm restoring a 1972 2cv with my father. It's soon finished (I hope) and I want to modify it (the right way Cool ) . I want it to have a silk finish paint but I'm not sure about the colour yet (red, blue...) I wan't to lower it but i think it will be difficult because it has no shock absorbers on the front wheels (it has "frotteurs"). I've found old front fenders without indicators and I wonder if the technical control is possible to pass with indicators in the headlights.

I'm waiting for your advices!

Hey you can always fit extra indicators for the technical control and remove them afterwards. I do that every year.

Without shock absorbers it will be difficult but you can modify to fit shock absorbers...

Hi Camille and welcome here !

It sounds like a nice project you're intending to do...

Kits exist to adapt shocks on the front of 2cvs who don't have them... if you look on the webiste of the Méhari CLub Cassis, you will see photos of the kit... and then you can easily make the same thing at home Laughing you just need "axle plates" from a Modern 2cv instead of your friction elements.

Indicators can be hidden in the headlamps, or behind the grille of the bonnet for example.

Do post pics of your ride !

Cheers

Joseph

actually, as we found out on the meharie, you can thighten those things pretty bad, thos frotteurs. Well, not really those things, but the springs in the axle you can adjust, and might it really thight. You could try out that, and then lower the car and see what happens.

In the meharie, not lowered, it's a really stiff car now, absorbes good, and the nosedive is gone, so...............

Hi Camille!

Welcome on board! Sounds like a good project!

Since I have indicators in the head lights I didn't go to the "controle technique"... But I have also the indicators on the sides of the car, it should be enough. But I have a extra set of regular front fender if it doesn't work!

Did you make any drawing or "photoshop" to see what the car will look like?

I've already tried photoshop but Ididn't do anything good. Embarassed If I've got the the time I'll try again...
I've drew it quick. the colour is not final but I like red

I won't have time to fit shock absorbers but I'll try to tighten the frotteurs as spookeend said. I have not a lot of time to spend on my car and I want to make it function first! I can't bear driving a xantia anymore Twisted Evil

Haha! Looks nice!

Do you know Matyas alias Psycko, and his black mat Dyane, really low with moondiscs?
He drove without shock absorbers in first time, cause he didn't have time to adapt them... He got some big fright!!! Laughing
