I generally don't really like increasing the engine size on a 2cv or visa, because the walls get so thin... Shocked Alright a visa engine has a bit more meat on the barrels than a 2cv egine, but still. I would try to gain power elsewhere, other carburetor(s) or fuel injection, different exhaust.

Cheers, Bart

p.s. don't worry about your English it's not bad at all.

Thanks Bartje,

it's true that the walls are thin after machining! (1.5mm Confused )

I think, fuel injection is a good solution with an other camshaft!

I will study that, and will follow with interest the post covering the subject!

Wait and see José

I'm impatient to see my engine in place into the "fée verte" (a 644 with Camshaft 630)

I read somewhere that they used to fit VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1500cc barrels and pistons, (two of them only) onto the 2cv engine. This would take the engine up to 750cc which is quite a useful power increase. This was on a car from SPAIN so i guess they had no problems with it overheating. Cool
Going to try that one myself i think. Speak to an engineering shop first to see what they say. Question
Tony. Cool

Standard 2cv heads with original size valves.
If you look at the 1500cc VW piston it has a similar shape on the piston crown, to the 2cv piston Idea . The VW 1600cc pistons are flat tops so i dont think would be suitable Question .
If i can get hold of a pair of Barrels and pistons i will have a go at fitting them to my truck. I will also try and fit an adjustable main jet in the carb' to richen up the mixture a bit Idea .

concerning citroentuning.de:

This guy built the engine for Johan van der Laan's 2cv which competed very successfuly in Peking to Paris rally. I spoked to Johan in Austrian WM 2001, and I understood that the engine performed great, and was also durable - at that time he made around 60.000 kms, if I remember correctly, including pretty rough rallying, without signs of wear.
But! I heard from several people about problems with delivery of parts. A guy from Slovenia ordered some parts, got them all right, then ordered some more, payed in advance and never got them. A club from Germany offered to help him, since they also had problems with mr. Maurice and were pulling a court case against him. I don't know how it all ended.

Concerning vw pistons - I think they must weigh a whole lot more than visa or 2cv pistons. isn't that a problem?

I've heard similar stuff...

Have no idea whether it's true or not, but the stuff this guy offers can mostly be done by anyone who has machining equipment and a bit of brains...

Support your local motor factor !

bye

I agree. it's not that difficult to make pistons (assuming you have the equipment), and if you intend to make in small series, it's not that expensive either. I think Maurice makes his own (or has someone to make it for him), because I browsed thrugh hundreds of pages of parts catalogues, but couldn' find anything similar.

Maybe...

but making pistons is not as easy as finding others...

There must be suitable pistons elsewhere for a given application

I'm no expert, I'm not into fine tuning Laughing , so I'm no help at this sort of thing...

I heard bad stories about mr Maurice as well, but they are only stories... I'm told that the 710cc kit on Johan's rally car and some others, is based on modified Porsche pistons and barrels, but I'm not sure...

Ciao, Bart

I've heard that too, but what Porsche has 80.5 pistons? And the problem is diameter of connecting rod pin, I think 2cv/visa has 20 mm, and most other cars with similar piston dimensions have more. Perhaps some motorcycle pistons would fit, I never checked any motorcycle parts catalogues. Barrels in Visa cylinders could easily be replaced with larger ones so that you don't have too thin barrel wall. But the pistons...
