still waiting for the damn UJ!

so persevering with the visor idea?..roof opens with it in position. jury is out still whether I like it or not..maybe painted the same colour as the roof.

engine working, ride height sorted, bumpstops raised, brakes working, and pedal box raised etc etc

when the UJ arrives Iīm driving it!

thanks bren. just sorting out some of the knocking noises at the exhaust and the other rear bump stop.
mechanically goes well now and all the channeling issues are fixed. no problem with the spare wheel under the chassis on speed bumps or anything.

its slow though, it turns out iīve got the old style gearbox linked to the 602..it would seem to be quite common with the spanish 2cvīs

next issue will be tyres..I could do with a lower profile at the front but not sure how itīll stand with the ITV rules

also wondering what to do with the paint job....very possibly some old school sign writing

fixed the front wing rust and other rough bodywork spots, which led onto starting the aged sign writing

yeah I know, I gave up striving for beauty (as a furniture designer) about 5 years back now I actively look to make things "ugly" as they hold my attention longer..its all about character over looks I think..as you can see Iīve destroyed the cleanish looking bodywork with the aged signwriting and added grime etc.
something Iīve always wanted to do on a car. now it looks old and knackered so I guess the next step is to find the equilibrium between what I have and something that looks "fixed"..maybe thats where the interior comes in?..Iīm probably not making much sense but it does feel like I have a plan now!

doors off yet again, and all the patinaīd panels in the paint room for matt varnish, than I think the wings and bonnet in gloss as the curves reflect well.

finally got the rear drum off also (managed with a cut down 46mm ! as 44mm does not exist in spain !), bits are ordered, on the final straight for the ITV

the paint arrived...totally the wrong colours Confused thatīll teach me to try and save cash by ordering from an online ral colour range!, the pale blue which was supposed to be like the roof is far too blue, and the beige is like the roof colour!, so change of plan. I canīt use the blue, but the other one works quite well and gives a nice fresh minty feel, and starts to get rid of the rat rod vibe! Razz

also the matt varnish has yellowed the panels quite a lot, so it clashes with the new green a lot..Iīm hoping that itīll have the same effect when its painted over the green so blending everything.

all exciting stuff, also thinking about taking a stripe through at bonnet level through to the back end in the green
