Haha! Great!
We were talking about just move the handle with Olli at the world meeting! It's a groovy idea! Is it not difficult to open the door now? I will check that at Spa!

Anyway, your car looks damn good and many details close to my car! Very Happy

OK

My plan is to put race springs on the chassis. Would Gabriel Shocks be up to the job or still not hard enough ?

Channeling tech post ? Hmm, I could too, but I think Etienne has got further than I have there...

There again, there are many ways to channel/chop etc...

Bye

whaha is there really a rule in finland that your car has to be 8 cm above the road ? that is ridiculous ,the person who make that rule must be shot or something.

Yes, I could shot him too... But maybe lawmakers have seen these roads..?

I can't lower my Dyane now, if I want to go to my friends garage. With about 15cm clearance, chassis hits ground too easy.

mmm you've got a point there. maybe it's time to make a air ride system for 2cv's.
i have thought about it but it's not very simple ,but it can be done

Thinking about hydraulics... Something like M35, but with Bx rear cylinders. Or Xm parts, with Hydractive. And also Activa -systems are in strongly in mind...

Only thinking at this moment. but maybe in some day..? Wink

We have been thinking this M35 suspension copy but it means so freaking
much of manufacturing parts... and then you have this green lovely liguid in
your suspension... and later on under car. Confused So I have been starting to
think more nice solution for Air suspension (at least its clean Wink). At least I do
like driving - no fixing in roads.. More simple more better I think.

i was thinking to mount a air bag between the frond and rear spring,
insite the round spring box(don't know how to call it)
so if you fill it with compressed air the car wil be lower, or something like that Confused

Something about air suspension. When I was working in company which import and manufacture pneumatic components, I spent lots of time (at working time, of course!) to think this. We calculated how much pressure is needed if use air cylinder diameter 100mm instead of normal spring, pressure in front should be about 30-40 bar and rear 20-40 bar depending of load. And these cylinders was designed fo 16 bar maximum...

So there was some problems:

-compressor, where from
-cylinders, same problem and "weird" operating direction
-valves, not so easy to find with this pressure
-and one limiting aspect, water in compressed air-finnish winter

Thats why I still think hydraulics is better, there is so many parts what you just can take, cylinders are smaller, its very easy to adjust how soft suspension is and when using new pipes and don't put the oldiest cylinders there should not be any problem and oil leaks...

I think most of this Citroens hydraulic leaks is reason of bad maintenance. Reputation is made with Bx with bad pipes from factory (good ones was too expensive).

Air ride systems does not use cylinders they use Air Bags.
"All" customs have air ride nowadays.
They seems really clean and simple systems. and you can also
"store" air preasure on bottle, so level can be changed even when
engine is not running.

I will not drive whit my customs in Winter anyway.

so ok to mount air bags in the same place were the original springs are
is almost impossible because of the 1 to 4 ratio of the swing arms.
the pressure is gonna be to hi or the air bag will be to big.

i don't think water is gonna be a problem there are a lot of standard
cars with air suspension (mercedus/lexus) and they do drive in winter.

the easiest way is to mount the air bag on another place, but where?

Idea How about mounting the airbags on a cradle above the swing arms and weld a steel plate on top for them to push down onto. It would involve cutting the rear floor out a bit and loosing some boot space but i'm sure it could be done. The shocks could stay in the same place, (thats if they are needed on air ride systems) Question .
Tony. Cool

I know a 2CV pick up with air ride suspension made like that. But in this case it's just to get a stronger suspension. This idea is really possible at least for the rear axle of the 2CV.
