The DS for the poor people!
Nice job for the 50's... but i m not fan of the line. It's a bit aggresive but i prefere the curves of the 2cv.
how much does it weigh ? |

This picture has been taken in front of an italian old monument close to Roma I think (I don't remenber the exact name, I think it's Saint angel Castel but I'm not sure) in june 1955. Jean Dagonet managed a sort of raid from Paris to Roma with several of his "customers". All this cars have a Dagonet 435 cc engine kit, and many of them have a specific bodyshell as you can see.
This is one of the early 2cv modified into a Dagonet, Jean Dagonet's personnal car, picture taken in the late 1953 an the Monthlery track for french homologation.
The latest Dagonet presented at the Paris Motorshow in october 1955. This car has never been produced. Dagonet resigned to produce it and his work and experience has been invested in a new project : the future UMAP coach.
A sketch of what should ahve look like the latest Dagonet
This I have seen before, but I dont think it was here before:
The latest Dagonet prototype built in Dagonet's workshop at Faverolles et Coemy, close to Reims. Look at the wood master shape hanged at the top ! This shape looks much more sexy !

This photo is so nice!
Dagonet's personnal car, picture from the early 1954. This car inaugurate the new bodyshell. Note that this car is quiet dropped. Looks much better than with the "original" suspension level...
Still Dagonet's personal car, end of 1954 with the new front fenders.
I think it's Philippe Vand de Maele's, citroen dealer in etampes, near Paris. He ran the Tulpen Rally in Neederlands in 1955 with a new version of it (new bonnet and new front fenders).

Thanks a lot Clod! I so much enjoy these old Dagonet pictures.
You maybe know where they are from?
I was thinking what was "wrong" in this picture, but of course it was
regular (marchal) head lights! I think this height is very perfect for
this kind a car. Sectioned and chopped car is best with semi high
suspension. Very nice!

Someone else is allready working on it... And even if I spend many time to look for infos, stories, pictures, peoples who knew about Dagonet's story, I'm fed up with all of this, especially when, after showing my work in the early '2000 to some people who "knows", I find parts of my search, of my work, distilled in magazines whitout any tribute to my work... and when these people tell you that they allready knew all I said about Dagonet... Strange... why didn't they tell it before then ?
Well, never mine, but the bollocks !
Anyway, I don't think there's enough "material" to make a book about Dagonet only... But a book about Dagonet, RAF, De Pontac, Fougères, and all those who built perf parts for 2cv engines, and all those who built accessories for old 2cv, and UMAP, Radar, Van Clee, well all 2cv based kit cars, even Lomax and other burtons, Avion, ... that will be a good book... _________________ I'm a Rod Breaker

I'm afraid no ! Most of these pictures are from Dagonet himself. He used them to make the promotion of his realisations. So you can find many of his pictures in differents "collections".
I just can say that the picture of the Dagonets in front of St Angel Castle, for the "Raid Paris-Rome-Paris" in june 1955 and the picture of Dagonet's first modified car at Monthlery were published in "L'argus de l'Automobile", a french specialized newspaper on cars in these years.
BTW, where did you find these pictures ? _________________ I'm a Rod Breaker

Hey, I found these pics with... Google
Key words: tubulure raf.
At monday I started to build 425 for my Azu, so I wanted to make
tuning manifold. But I haven't time for that now, cause I should hit
the road at friday morning. I just got engine running today.

A group of Dagonet's fans in France had made make a replica of one of Dagonet manifold severals years ago (twin exhausts, simple carb). They made about 12 of these. I should have pics of it somewhere. I could send you some if you want. _________________ I'm a Rod Breaker
