N° 50 is a Dagonet, model call "Marie-France" (complete plastic body shell with hard top roof) and built in 1956. The owner and pilot, on the photo but I don't know which one of the two guys it is, is Francis Rigeade. He's still alive and leaves in the Charente county (not far from Jozef !). He wonder rebuilt a Dagonet as its.
The other cars look like Dagonet but they are not. They seems to have been built by a mechanic from Limoges (Haute-Vienne county).
Dagonet presented its first car in 1953. The last ones were built in 1956. It's based on a 2cv frame and engine with a modified body shell : sectionning about 17 cm, windscreen more inclinated and different curve for the roof.
Two types of body shell have been produced in fiberglass :
The "Ghislaine" body shell, with a canvas top :
The Marie-France, with an hard-top roof :
Two types of front wings were existing : the original 2cv wings or fiberglass wings with front lights integrated :
And four different types of bonnets (all were sectionned).
the first one, quite similar to the original 2cv bonnet with a scoop :
It has been existing only on first Dagonet's car.
A second one, with a different grill (it's my favorite) :
The third one, with an oval grill, the most known :
And the fourth one, which has been existiong only on the last evolution of Dagonet's car in 1956 and 1957, a complete flip front :
I can say 17 different cars have been produced between 1953 and 1956. Most of theme were built in 1956.
Today, we know three Dagonet surviving. The first was own by a man called Dominique Geffrey. He started restoring it but he died three or four years ago. Today, nobody knows what the car happened ... He also owned an Umap (a dark blue one, seen in a past occurence of "Planete 2cv").
Here's is one of the last photos of D Geffre's Dagonet. It's one of the first realised by Jean Dagonet (between 1954 and 1955). It's a "Ghislaine" model (canvas top). It may have a bonnet with a twin holes grill (quiet like BMW).
The second one is now own by a french person, leaving near Paris. The car is under restoration in a 2cv mechanics specialist. It's the car most seen in picture, on the web, in the magazine or books about 2cv. This car has been originaly buy by a man from Deux Sèvres county in 1956. During the '70 a french bought it and frove it across france and europe. He replaced the original engine (whit its 435cm3 Dagonet Faverolles kit) by an Ami 6 engine (602 cm3). He talked about the car in magazine like Auto Retro or Retroviseur in France. Then the car was bought by a Citroen mechanics of south (Lodève). We saw the car at a meeting organized by the "Club des Amis de la 2cv" in 1998,for the 40th anniversary of the 2cv, and the car has been bought by a Belgian in the late '80. It stayed several years in Belgium. Some of you may be have seen it at a Spa meeting in the early '90.
Here is it with its first owner :
The third one is a "MarieFrance" model. It was owned by two brothers, who were Citroen dealers at rambouillet and Etampes, close to Paris. They bought the car in 1956. They have participate at few rallies with it, and they forgot the car in a dark garage. I knew the car was still existing, but a man from south east of France bought it in 2002 or 2003. Well, he bought the rest of the car :
The most terrific is that I leaved 15 years at 5 kilometers from this car ...
Here is it in its glorious years :
Someday, may be I'll tell you a little bit more about Dagonet ... [/img]
Please, be coll with the pictures and the draws I show : I don't have any copyrights for the pictures I didn't take, and the draws are mine. I spend many years of search to find more picts, infos, and learn more about Dagonet and his cars. So thanks.

Just to show you one of my favourite Dagonet picture :

Etienne, may be you could search for an ex driver of Dagonet :
Jean Dagonet worked with a german man named Seibert. He was from Sarrebrück and drove a Dagonet 2cv which seemmed to be the "laboratory" car of Dagonet. This car gave me many problems : its registration was strange : 4949 DE 15. If it was a french registration, it wasn't correct because this registration in Cantal county (15) dated from 1967. In fact, it was a special registration delivered by french authorities in Sarre during the "occupation" of a part of Germany by allies forces. Seibert was also a wine dealer or something like that. May be old german people remenber him and his car ?
Here is the car :
You'll note the different shape of the front wing around the headlight. Picture taken at the 1000 Miles in april or may 1955.
You could also look for a man from Strasbourg or around named "Bernheim". I think he was a lawyer in Strasbourg or somewhere close to. He owned two Dagonets : the first one was registered 92 BH 68. It dates before april 1955. It was a "Ghislaine" body with the v2 bonnet (double grill). Bernheim ran the 1000 miles in 1955 with it (and with six or seven other Dagonets !). Later, he owned a "Marie-France" registered 92 CM 68 (you note he kept the same numbers, just the letters changed. He might know people working at the registration office !). With this car, he ran the Belgium Rallye in 1957 (Tour de Belgique).
Here are his cars :
At the 1000 miglias in april or may 1955, a "Ghislaine" registered 92 BH 68
At the belgium rallye in 1957, a "Marie France" registered 92 CM 68.

Yes, very interresting!!! and very nice old pictures.
When help is needed I with the German language don't hesitate and let me know I can help, although probably not necessairy cause I suppose Etienne speaks German as well.
I'm far from Sarrebrück so it will be difficult to find someone from here, although I could post something on a German forum, is that an idea?
Take care, Bart |

Yep go on cause my german isn't good enough to make this kind of... quest!
For the one on "68" department, do you know the village of the owner? I think I could go there and try to find family of this guy... Maybe they know what happened to the car.... _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Unfortunately no Etienne, I don't know the village or town where M Bernheim lived... I just know he was a lawyer or medics, something like that. Try with the yellow pages as I did for M Ricou who also owned a Dagonet ! Or, if you know someone kind at the prefecture of strasbourg, try to know the name and adress with the registrations ! May be could you ask to D Pagneux if he could introduce you ( ). He knows people ! (but mostly in Paris). _________________ I'm a Rod Breaker

Fast found with google :
http://wsrp.ic.cz/wsc1955.html
In results of 1000 miglia 1955 : François Bernheim + A.Léger on Citroën 2CV...
And I found 2 telefon numbers of Bernheim people in "68" department. I will give a call or directly go there after my holidays... we never know! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Hi Clôd,
These are the more interesting subjects to spend our time on. Very nice drawings you made of the specific bodyparts. Do you have any information about the restoration of the blue Dagonet? (doesn't have to be public on the forum)
A few weeks ago there was a dude on Ebay took a 2cv A apart and he sold all the parts seperately. That 2cv was equipped with lightened 400 rims like being used on Dagonet and Umap. The car was also equipped with a fifties white Quillery style steering wheel and a huge fiberglass booth. Unfortunately I only saved one picture.

It's a De Pontac booth, made in fiberglass.
