well my brother and me why tested al the wires and there are not broken.
The engine has been back together and tried to start But no succes.

It seems that I get it running as long that I powerd the starter.
Just for a coupel off seconds.
Maybe the carburator is not clean.

If there is fire on the spark then the computer works Not??

greetings Robin

I think this is just your wires, at the key! You connected the ignition to the starter instead of the ground!
I made the same mistake on my dyane!

Robin,
» check height of foam(??? = the item which controls fuel level) in carburator and its valve(!).
» check the electric idle valve on/at carburator which is feed by 12V if ignition is on. IIRC it could be removed and an ordinary screw (or maybe a plastic plug?) could be fixed to get the engine idling.
» maybe one cable at the starter key is wrong and ignition is off when key is turned back to ignition=on or ignition=off while cranking.
EDIT: As Etienne said above - some seconds before. :)
» what's about fuel pressure? Remove fuel hose put it in a can or similar and crank.
» replace carburator, try a common 2CV6/Dyane6/Ami8 carb.
» replace ignition wires

Good luck

Are the flywheel sensors connectoed right way, if You put the put sensors wrong way, engine won't start... And good ground, especially with sensors... I had some problems with bad connections, and it always "kicked back" and lost spark, and I found spark always after cleaning connectors (winter and salt on roads).

Sensors with two wire

Sensors with three wire

Does these pictures make life easier..? Rolling Eyes

I have the 2 pictures of the electrical.
I will try and change the carburator. Problem is that my spare parts are not her but at my mothers home and to put a whole engine on may back is just a bit haevy. I drive with my bike now.
I try to get it tommorow.
I don't think it is the wiring but check it over again.

Found a instruction to test sensors, called proximity detectors

Checking the proximity detectors
-Disconnect connector from ignition coil
-Slightly separate the two parts of the connector of detector and connect positive probe of voltmeter to a good chassis earth (ground).
-Switch the ignition on and watch reading of the voltmeter while turning the engine by handin its normal direction of rotation. The voltmeter should indicate between 0.5 and 2.0 volts, except when the stud on the flywheel is immediately underneath the detector. With the stud beneath the detector, the voltmeter reading should be between 5 and 7 volts

hey JAsu

Have don that. And just to be sure I bought 2 new sensors but no difference.
I'm thinking of put a 123 for visa in but don't have the time before my wedding. Ist also quit expensive.
So think to stick in a dyane engine from my brother and see after the wedding whats the problem.

problem founded.

I put a compression meter on it and there is on one cilinder 4 bar and the other 2bar so not good.
We put a bit of olie in the cilinder and started and it was a bit more so the pistonrings are the problem. I placed these 50 000km ago so I think they shut be good. No when I placed them I did not mind if the gaps of the pistonrings wher not above eachother. Maybe thats the gap wher he loses his compression.
Beneath the cilinders there is also a "paper" I did not replaced it whit a new maybe thats also the leaking? but I get a lot of air out of the oliepipe.

Hello Robin,
what did you with your engine while restoring the 2CV body?????
Any service?

Are you sure that valve clearence is ok?

2...4[bar] + oil = 'a bit more'[bar] --> I expect more problems than piston rings or anything 'stupid' like forgotten valve clearance or so.
Is the compression meter ok? Tested on other engine?

I'd think that the engine should run at idle even with very very low compression too.

If you need new piston rings, maybe this helps:

I don't know any paper at the bottom of Visa cylinders.
Either O-ring (old models like my 630) or 1mm Alu plate (later models). --> Bad sealant at bottom would cause oil droping/leaking engine (MOT?) and too much elastic/weak sealent would/could cause blowing cylinder head.

well it is the alu plate i Mean I have 644 cilinders.

I looking of a way to mesure the diameter of the cilinders and see if they are bad.
I 'm not getting it ready for my wedding so it will be a chevrolet chevelle of 1964 that is going to drive us.
I now its a shame but I don't get my car ready for next week.

So I told my girlfriend we have to do the wedding all over when the car is ready Laughing Cool
I think the compresion meter is ok.
Didn't checkt it on another engine.
I project will be freesed for 2 weeks. And after that its full trotle. Information and tips are still welcome.

greets Robin
