Hello Robin,
good to hear that 'he' turns.

Pleae tell me what was wrong with piston rings.
a) The position of the pistonring gap?
b) The upside/downside of the pistonrings was mismatched?

@a)
Is there a rule how the 3 gaps should be positioned? My 50ccm 2stroke engine had small pins which kept the rings in position - but I miss this at Visa piston.

@b)
The new rings have no special markings for upside and downside.
An German (Switzer) workshop manual says that there are markings which show to the top of the piston.

First of all, sorry to answer for Robin.

But yes there is, the gaps should be equally spaced, so with three ring approximately 120degrees between the gaps.

Cheers, Bart
