Well, you are very right Pablo. Good realisations are hard to find in the world of 2cv's. We could start talking about taste, but let's not Wink

A great car doens't even need to cost a lot of money. But that just depends on how good your skills are or how many handy friends you have!

there are some kit available...

the Hoffman is the most popular, and it looks like crap.

The Azelle, is a good start for making something very nice :

Needs lots of work (rear lights panel, front end can do with a bit of "fifties" items (old style lamps)... but i think the shape is quite nice.

BTW

A roof is the last thing required on a roadster... so who cares what it looks like (although the Azelle is quite nice)

You are right about the first two, they are ugly. On the third and fourth I don't share your opinion, I think the lines are quite nice. But there is no arguing about taste. The model is inspired on the Hoffmann so no surprise there. But I do like the moulded in running boards and rear fenders, also the speed bump behind the seat.

From the finnish custom I like the rear deck, although it's a shame that the rear doors are still obviously there and that luggage rack on the back interrupts the clean lines.

For me, I get ideas from all of these cars. There is rarely a car that I completely like. From some cars, I like this and not like the other. Some examples are just to see what does not work.

All those cars you just posted show exactly what this forum does not stand for. Most of us get inspired by the American Custom and Hot Rod scene so I guess it's better to show more cars like that. I think the Lincoln Zephyr and Mercury coupes are the best examples for building a 2cv convertible or coupe. Round wings and the roof that gently slides away in the trunk ... first class!

All I am saying is that it is easy to criticise sitting on the sideline. It would be better to show something that you like (either other peoples cars or your own) instead of just saying "I don't like this, I don't like that".

Very easy then to show the polynesian, it's a standard that everybody who knows a little about customizing likes. I can also mention Ed Roth, Gene Winfield, Darryl Starbird and a lot of others but they did nothing with 2CV's or even European cars. A lot of these ideas will not work with the 2CV or Dyane shape.

And to say that original is better than "cutted whatever", I agree, but this is the CUSTOM 2cv forum.

So please, Sam and Yannick, show us some 2Cv customs, specials, racers that you like. Or make a drawing of your plans, then we can start a discussion instead of just throwing mud.
