you mean those bling bling ones ? i don't know, and i don't care.

but i know that you can get really cool steel wheels für nearly every car for about 150 e. each.

off course, i understand that they are so expensive, but for me this is no alternative because i don't have so much money.

I dont think about 1000e is very much of (really special) custom wheels.
They are made in small series... If you looks some special wheels for
beetles you dont get much with that money. This thing in 2cv scene is a bit
bothering me - nothing should cost anything.

Even for motorbike you pay 250 Euro per rim (including spokes) So 250 Euro is not expensive. Allthough nowadays mass produced alloys go for 75 Euro each. But that is crap quality anyhow. For some great OZ rims you pay 700 Euro each.

For these rims, because I don´t like them I would not pay 1000 Euro.

+1

I would put my money on VW rims and making adapters. These Deltaline
(copies?) are too 80's for me. I think design is from 70's. But 2cv is hard
to customize on 70's muscle cars style. Very classic custom style they sure
are not. Hype comes when they are "only model available".
But what I try to say about that price, if you want something you need to
pay of it (some people put their money in wide screen TV and some on their
cars, so on...)

I do not expect that I buy rims for 75 euro each, Maybe when you got old rims to restore it's a option.
250 euro each is a nromal price indeed.
The rims I have showed where a bit cheaper. But that's not the reason I like them.

PS: Jozef are you always a grumpy old bitch or is it just on the internet?

Im afraid thats the Big Truth when you aproach to any 2cv scene, and really a pity Crying or Very sad but the thing is that not everybody can afford parts that cost more than the whole car, thinking in hot rod terms, it is solved being practical.
Relative to the wheels an affordable aproach will be, steel rims, maybe widened, with plated hubcaps and stainless trim rings, and maybe not doing it in one shot, but spending more time an less money in yards research, then if you find that a further step is necessary, you will be more convinced in spending the big bucks for this dreamed billet wheels come true.

Also adapter plate for these would be easier to make, since the bolts on these VW rims are wide apart. But consider that these rims are made for wider tyres, I think min. 155.

It is much money... do you just have 1000E kicking about to spend on something for fun? I haven't. Nevertheless it ain't expensive... but that is something different.
And why are you bothered, I always thought people are free to decide on what they want to spend their money...even if they have 1000s of euros to spend on fun things.

If you read Olli's statement you should understand it, in vw scene a lot of money is spend to make it look perfect. If you spend 10000 Euro on custmising your car, why not spend 1000 euro on the rims?

For now I spend 5000 Euro on my rebuild, ok maybe not everyone likes it, but I do. And allthough it looks expensive, but if I can drive my car for another 15 years then 5000 Euro is cheap.

Wouw Olli I like your photoshop. It looks good I think.
Are this the rims you like the most?

Yes, it's a fact that in the VW world people average spend more money on their beetle.
And it's a shame we don't see it in the 2cv world, I don't know why but I think it has something with the catagory of people where the car is populair in. Rolling Eyes

Citroen people are far more purists, I think. Confused

Bartje, are you student? I am, and still I dont think 1000 is lotsa money.
For people who work it should not be really high amount. I rather spend my
money in things that I like than example in new cars. Some people use
15000-20000e every 3rd year for new car + all service!

I do totally agree with you.
Everybody descides by their own what he/she want to do with their money.
It's true that on the vw-scene people spend more money on their cars compered with the 2cv-scene.
And yes, a lot of 2cvminded people pay attention on the cost of something.
But, as long as we have fun with the cars it's all OK, to my opinion Cool

Greetings

I understand where Olli is coming from... BUT, I think you should judge people on THEIR choises. Reading this:

Olli wrote:

makes clear that Olli and the posters with him, don't understands where I'm coming from...

To answer Olli's question: I was a student for 8 years and will get the first financial benifit of that tomorrow. As a student I didn't have much and just spending 1000E was, and actually still is, absolutely out off the question.

I'm not tooo bothered, but why are you? To repeat my idea:
I always thought people are free to decide on what they want to spend their money...even if they have 10000s of euros to spend on fun things.
