This is my 1989 2cv6 special called Kev (see the registration number!)
I intend to make a red oxide 'rat rod' from it, hopefully with a roof chop and maybe channeling later on, first I lowered it...

Before:

After:

Then I decided to do things that are original, not just copy other styles seen on 2cvs all the time, so I looked through cutom bike shops and ebay, and found a set of Maltese cross rear lights meant for a harley davidson, I will fit these soon but i need to make some modifications to the light panel, Im not sure what yet though, but here is a rough idea of what they will look like;

The whole car will be done in red oxide primer with grey flames with an airbrushed black outline, Im trying to think of cool things to do with the front lights, any ideas welcomed!

House the indicators in the Maltese crosses...

And center the maltese crosses on the original tailight place.

Put older 2cv front headlamps, not square ones Mad , and put modern 2cv lamps and put the indicators in them, too

Otherwise maybe Dietz headlamps could look good, but that needs to be tried out... Confused

Hey SHED. How about pre 67 flat VW Beetle type headlamps cut into the front wings. You can get them with indicators built in so you won't have to worry about that. Cool
I've thought about fitting these to my new project but if you go there first, i can learn from your mistakes, (lol, lol) Laughing .

Id thought about sinking another set of round headlights into the wings below the standard set (which i will move closer in like older 2cvs) so they are in a stacked formation, I told Neil this and he almost choked i think, so was put off a bit.

I was reallly tempted to plasma cut flames into the rear wings, i got the flames drawn on, got the plasma cutter fired up then bottled out, what does everybody think of that idea? Its different, ive not seen it done but im not sure if it'll look allright or not......

Fuck it, go for it. If it looks like shit you can buy some new ones to replace them. Laughing
How about fitting RED NEON tubes inside the wheel arch so at night the flames light up. Idea
As long as the red light cannot be seen from the front of the car this would be legal. Twisted Evil

Easy to adapt indicators in regular front lights...

And for rear indicators, just do as the old 2CV : on the side of the body shell.. That's what I did cause i will change rear panel for an old one with old small lights.

More importanly for me, how legal is that in the UK?

I was going to hide the front indicators in a modified austin mini front bumper, which i was intending on cutting and welding around the countour of the wings and the bonnet.

Just done the bonnet and rear wing in red oxide... I know that was a good choice now!

It's ok, you can see it. And with the indicator on the side, there is really no prob.

I've cut out my front bumper on my red 2cv6 and fitted a pair of rectangular motorbike indicators which are a snug fit. They are mounted on small brackets welded to the rear of the bumper and allow the orange lense to just stick through the hole. Cool

For a rat rod project, it's could be better to avoid modern parts, no?

Hey, stop yammering about road legal indicators. Just fit legal ones for MOT and then rip them off afterwards (preferably within sight of the MoT station).

For the rear lights: I like the maltese cross, maybe fit it to an old type rear panel. It would also be cool to tunnel them in but due to the shape, this will be a lot of work.

As for the front lights, maybe this is an idea...

Actually, this is the same car Olli posted a while ago. It has the same wheels, colour and hump on the back (and the same license number).
