As soon as you can post pics of this please do! as soon as I get one of my other A series cars going again I can make my brave chop top idea a reality! My plan was to do as was suggested, cut further down the rear of the car and try and make the curve of the roof look good, this is my greatest worry.

As for competing with Limbo-rock, well, as somebody else said, Shine is fine, Primer is finer! and as Tony said, In rust we trust! I just wanna know I can do the metalwork and chop a roof to a decent standard, Itl just be done in red oxide afterwards, I might not even bother with windows at the sides, I want a real rat rod kinda thing!

Hey SHED. One question for you. WHO'S CAR IS IT ANYWAY?

At the end of the day, you will give it your best shot. If it turns out ok and you are happy with it then, WHY WORRY WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK?
Do what you want and not what you think others will like.

RED OXIDE ALL THE WAY--- Tony. Cool

Ok, where ive put the white tape is where i think I need to remove metal, on the top part of the roof above the rear door hinge I will add a more curved section from further back (from a scrap bodyshell) so that the top of the roof isnt flat where it must be lengthened. I have not worked the doors out in my head. To make it cheaper and easier for me (bear in mind Ive never done this before) I will keep the front screen the same size, and remove vent flap and some metel either side of it.

Does this look about right to anybody?

Just one thought. Be careful not to go too low into the panel under the vent flap. When i was building SCAR i dropped the screen into this area and THEN discovered there was no room for the wiper motor and mechanism. Also the body panels are two or three skins thick here so you would have to do quite a bit of extra work to get the motor to fit. I fitted mine above the screen in the end which suited the opening front screen that i have.
Hope this helps in some way- Tony Cool .

That had occured to me Tony, but i thought maybe of doing the same as you have done.

Or being creative with a new idea.

I thought maybe of loosing the rear lights and where the roof will be longer (well, wont have as much 2cv to cover) extend it down to the bootfloor and hide the lights somewhere else (rear window maybe?) while I just want to acheive a decent chop, Id still like it to look ace aswell.

Do not insist Etienne, I'm hesitating to create a post in tribute of customs of the '80... Laughing Laughing Laughing You may supply a bucket to vomit then...

I got many pics for, from the first international meeting in Orleans, to the first exhibitions in Paris when "Retromobile" took place in the same place and the same time with the annual exhibition of competition and modified cars in Paris (early and middle '80) or Philippe Pétré's garage and his friends custom vans...

What ever you say, these cars make part of 2cv history, as the Renault 9 makes part of Renault history.... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Go ahead make it but please please (and this is for everybody), post when there is something good to show...

If it's just to show ugly things there is no interest. And only real custom from 80s. Not custom made now look like 80's, you know what I mean?
