Channeling is now under way (6 cm). However, Dolly will need something more than just a nice stance - so I'm opting for some glitter and glamour - Working name for the Dolly facelift is "Dolly Parton", with some inspiration from Rod & Custom. OK, its not going to be that extreme but some of the cues will be carried over incl. pink flake, white paint and chrome.

But right now I'm just scraping old underbody asphalt and detecting more and more rust...

Here's the situation right now - all the underbody gunk scraped away - some rust areas in the frame detected - but the frame is properly oiled inside so it will be repaired. Lot´s of rust in the floor and rear wheel arches - right now I´m cutting all of it away - not much left. Soon I will start making new floors, bulkhead etc.

The work situation:

The rust situation:

The channeling cut:

The result:

So that you don't think I'm sleeping on the job.

The frame is finished - cleaned, rust welded, painted etc.

Spent some time in the metal workshop at work and I´m especially proud of my C-pillars (the one to the left, welding remains). The C-pillars are more or less non-existant from the lock down. I have also made floorboards and little bits and pieces. So now it is time to start piecing the body together again, the next few weekends.

Finally time to start piecing the car back together again! This weekend I switched the C-posts and added the "shelves" along the upper level of the sills and on the inner side of the wheel wells. I also lowered the body down on the repaired rear section. Please note that I have not fixed it in the right postion yet as it seems that I will have to cut off a bit of the rear frame members for the body to find the right position, a bit more forward.

YES! Finally the welding is done. I spent the whole Easter weekend with fabulous spring/summer weather in the garage, of course - upsetting the neighbours grinding and cutting steel - all for the good cause.

Here is one of the floor panels.

And in place. Note also the fitted bulkhead.

Here is the metal-work for the raised pedal assembly. That took a lot of cardboard templates to get done. I think I managed to get the gas-pedal to move around the handbrake lever by about 1 mm - fingers crossed.

And here is the old style rear panel. I will fit four Ami rear lights (2 orange and 2 red). I first thought about Pontiac 1950 lights but reverted to Citroën. I will also let the roof go all the way down. I have not decided wether to fit bumpers or not. If so it will be the very first narrow one at the rear.

Next up is to paint it all and then raise the body from the frame to mount suspension, fuel tank, brake and fuel lines etc.

The gas pedal "box" from above - covering a recess in the glove shelf to allow for the gas pedal travel.

Progress is made, slowly. I've started to pieces it together and most of it is done. More pictures soon.

Yes - the roof is pink metal flake vinyl... all the way down the trunk.

Great to hear! I was a bit hesitant - will it be a Circus car or will it have som Kustom wibes? With the roof on I think it is more Kustom than Cirkus - and with the new red metal flake steering wheel from Mooneyes on its way.... The Pink I have used is closer to red.

Better photos coming soon. As soon as I have assembled the car. Now on to the electrics.

Here is where I bought the vinyl. http://www.martrim.co.uk/catalogue/metal-flake-vinyl.htm

The offer great service and I think the vinyl works - however I don´t know if it will fade in the sun.

All I need now is an old style front bumper - like on the beautiful banner car.
