Thought i had finished the seats for the Kubel until the seat cusions arrived yesterday and i tried to fit them, BOLLOX,FUCK,SHIT ETC ETC
The seat cusions were so thick ive had to cut some more height out of all the seat frames.
I hate doing thing twice.
Anyway all done now and fit really well.
Next job, fitting the 'ribbed' mouldings to the body panels and then its finally time for paint _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

"Are we nearly there yet?" came the plaintive whine from the back seat - Can't wait to see it ribbed and in paint. Still the Normandy camo? Did you have to drop the seat-belt tube as well? Again, can't wait to see it with an MG34 lurking threateningly on top...! |

Hey Renaud, the seat belt tube/gun mount was ok at the same height (thankfully).
Paint im uncertain on at the moment. It might be done as a base sand colour with green tiger stripes or square camo net type print.
There were so many different patterns because a lot of them were painted 'in the field' so to speak, so whatever way i paint it will look ok (i hope)
Ive been looking for details on the MG34 because i'm thinking about making my own replica. Have you seen any sites which list the measurements and with close up photos etc??? _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Great site for the MG34, Brammie. Can't seem to source any measurements from books or the web, Tony, but perhaps a combination of Brammie's site, a calculator, and the barrel dimension below might help. "Barrel length of MG34 62.7cm including barrel lug. Booster cone adds a further 6.7cm to this length." I'm sure they'll have one or two(though perhaps under glass) at Arromanches, Bayeux or Omaha museums - take a tape measure and pen and pencil! We won't have quite such a need for realism - we'll be covering Karcher-type "pistols" - the water feed tube'll be a dead giveaway...! |

Hey Tony!
Major multi-national parachute drop planned for this Sunday 5th June over Ste. Mere Eglise - "biggest orchestrated drop since 1944". Plus a re-enactment "camp" at Sainte Marie du Mont which in the past has featured a Kubel, from Friday 3rd to minimum Monday 6th June. See you there?? |

Hello again Renaud. We spent the time checking out all the batterys and the museums up and down the coast line. We got caught up in that monster rain storm which lasted 24hrs so we went to Pegasus Bridge in the van on the 5th June. Amazing place and nice to see the British getting a little recognition for the effort they made to free Europe from the Nazi's. Didnt get along to Utah Beach, just didnt have enough time this year, but will check that out next year in the kubel. Spent the day on the 6th June down at Arromanches. We got down there on the three bikes nice and early in time for breakfast and the Memorial Service. Came back in the evening for the film show on the sea front and the fireworks (oh, and a few beers too )
Are you going to build your kubels out of wood still as you said at first??
Please look me up at the world meeting and if you want to take measurements from my Kubel, then please do so.
Hello Classic 2cv, its going to be sand colour and probably will have another colour in a form of camo pattern (not decided yet). _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |
